April 1, 2014 through June 30, 2014 - Just a thought ...

September 29 - After twenty-five years of ministry I've been privileged to help countless people transition from this life to the next. Regardless of your personal beliefs, here is a summary of what matters most when that time comes: First, that the people you loved in this life know it. Second, that relationships with those people are of greater value and infinitely more important than material possessions. And, finally, that you have made peace with God. I've yet to hear a death-bed confession that included regret for spending too much time with family.

September 27 - Many Christians won't let the Word of God get in the way of what they believe.  May God's pastors everywhere preach the Word regardless.

September 23 - The Apostle Paul (Saul of Tarsus) had the most impressive résumé of all those called to ministry by Christ. He was a "Hebrew of Hebrews" brought up at the feet of the great Rabbi Gamaliel. But when The LORD Jesus appeared to him on the Damascus road, isn't it interesting that Saul didn't even recognize The Master's voice? He asked, "Who are You, Lord?" (Acts 9:5) Is your training and instruction helping you recognize the only voice that matters in this world? After Paul's dramatic encounter with Christ he asked the single-most important question for all Ministers (Police, Fire & EMS included): "What do YOU want me to do?"

September 16 - One hundred years from now what will they remember? What will they be inspired by? What will make a difference?

September 11 -

Today I remember. Today I pray. I remember so that my grandson won't take what we have for granted. I pray so that he can sleep easy and peaceful every night all the days of his life. God be with us and God Bless America, land that I love.

September 9 - Just two days away, September 11th is known as the date that changed our world. But I want to remind you of another date that forever changed us as well. December 14, 2012, is the day that evil invaded the peaceful community of Newtown, Connecticut. If we are to find real solutions to preventing horrific events like these from repeating themselves, it must begin with a righteous indignation and a refusal to forget or allow their impact to be lessened. These evils were not just done to a select few, but to every single one of us. Truth and freedom must stand together. It’s not about political correctness, denominations, and the religious preferences that divide and promote compromise. It’s about good and evil, light and darkness, God and Satan. Let’s stop making provision for evil and allow the true light to shine. 9/11 and 12/14 should be the trumpet-sound and rally-cry that calls us all to unity, faith, commitment and action. We are One Nation Under God and United we must stand.

September 7 - Never Forget. Never Forget. Never Forget. And in case you don't understand what I mean: NEVER FORGET...the sacrifice and the pain. NEVER FORGET...that Freedom isn't free. NEVER FORGET...that we don't have to apologize for our faith. NEVER FORGET...that we don't have to redefine our values. NEVER FORGET...that we have a responsibility to protect what others died to give us. NEVER FORGET...that others don't share our world view. NEVER FORGET...there is no reasoning with a bully. NEVER FORGET...that separating church and state does not mean removing faith from government. NEVER FORGET...that the uniform of the firefighter and police officer represent the Hand of God reaching into the darkness to serve and protect YOU. God Bless The U.S.A.

July 29 - “When you participate in that which you believe is morally wrong and violates your conscience, or refrain from actions that you believe are morally or ethically right, you should know that your willful indulgence or abstinence will take you farther than you intended to go, cost you more than you expected to pay, and hold you longer than you ever wanted to stay. A spine is a terrible thing to waste.” - Chaplain Gary Cortese

July 28 -

July 24 - There is no Neutral in the life of Faith. You're either moving Forward or going in Reverse. Someone wisely observed that we should never follow a Parked vehicle if we're trying to go somewhere. Well, we shouldn't follow a Parked pastor or church either. Let's stop settling for the basic minimum requirements of Christianity and go somewhere for God.

July 21 - In the midst of all the stress, politics, and the daily grind of what you do, here is a 3-1/2 minute speech by President Ronald Reagan to help keep the big picture in focus. Click below to view video on today’s post.

July 4 - John Quincy Adams said: "Posterity - you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it." In the New Testament, The Apostle Paul said this to Christians about their spiritual freedom: "It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery...For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another." Galatians 5:1,13 (NASB) Thank God we are free to serve one another. Happy Independence Day!

July 4 - "Before God, I believe the hour has come. My judgment approves this measure, and my whole heart is in it. All that I have, and all that I am, and all that I hope in this life, I am now ready here to stake upon it. And I leave off as I began, that live or die, survive or perish, I am for the Declaration, It is my living sentiment, and by the blessing of God it shall be my dying sentiment, Independence now, and Independence for ever." -John Adams, in a speech to the Continental Congress, July 1, 1776

July 1 - "In the darkest blackness of human carnage and suffering, Police, Fire and EMS intervene on behalf of mankind. Someone will always be there to intercede on your behalf...a clear and unmistakable demonstration that God does not abandon us in the storms of life..." (Chaplain Gary Cortese)
